Marta Finkelštein is a Vilnius-based performer and music curator whose work intertwines theoretical inquiry and artistic practice. Her research explores the evolving role of the curator within contemporary music, focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration and experimental sound.
A recent graduate of the University of Applied Sciences in Northern Switzerland with a specialization in music curating, Marta further deepened her academic contributions by earning an artistic doctorate in 2023 from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Her thesis, Curating Music in Contemporaneity: Contexts, Lithuanian Scene, and Ensemble Synaesthesis, examines the intersections of curatorial strategies and the contemporary music landscape.
Central to her recent practice is her work with a contemporary music ensemble Synaesthesis, where she has spearheaded innovative sound projects in collaboration with instrumentalists, composers, and multidisciplinary artists. Under her artistic direction, the ensemble has garnered significant national and international acclaim, including the Young Creator Prize, the St. Christopher Statuette for achievements in contemporary music, and the prestigious Ernst von Siemens Ensemble Prize.
